Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Sega Genesis) Cheats
Instructions
To use the following cheats, select Options on the Title Screen and play the sounds in the order listed below. A tone will play to confirm the cheat. Please note that the Chaos Emeralds and Debug Mode cheats require the Stage Select cheat. Additionally, the tracks for the Chaos Emeralds and Debug Mode cheats must be played on the level select screen for the cheats to work.
Stage Select
Go to the Sound Test option on the Title Screen and play sounds 19, 65, 9, and 17. A sound will play if the code was entered correctly. After that, return to the Title Screen, then hold the A Button and press Start.
Chaos Emeralds Cheat
Enter the Stage Select code shown above. Go to to the Sound option on the Stage Select screen and play sounds 4, 1, 2, and 6. You will hear a special chime to confirm the code. This should give Sonic all six of the Chaos Emeralds. To turn into Super Sonic, collect 50 Rings, then jump.
Debug Mode
Input the Stage Select code, then play the following sounds under the Sound option on the Stage Select screen:
1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, then 4
Next, begin the game, select the level you wish to start on, and hold A + Start until the stage loads. Press the B Button during gameplay to begin Debug Mode or end it. The A Button cycles through sprites and the C Button will place a spite.
The preceding cheat codes, which originally appeared in Tips & Tricks Magazine and BradyGames Secret Codes 2006 Vol. 1, have been compiled and transcribed to this site for the sake of posterity as well as for the convenience of our visitors. We want Debug Mode and Super Sonic unlocked!
Scroll down, it’s under Stage Select. Super Sonic is part of the Chaos Emerald cheat and Debug is near the end of the page. Let me know if you have any problems getting them to work and thanks for using this site!
