Mega Man 7 is the only entry in the “classic” branch of the franchise to appear on the SNES. Much of the original action is maintained in this title, as Mega Man runs, jumps, sides, and shoots his way through each stage. While players can still choose what order they fight the first eight bosses in, only four are accessible at the beginning. As in previous Mega Man games, players are awarded with a new weapon upon defeating each of the eight bosses, which is generally extra effective against another boss. Players can also collect bolts that can be used to make purchases. Mega Man 7 uses a password system that allows players to continue a game session from where they left off.
