Description
Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday is a Sega Genesis port of a DOS game created by Strategic Simulations. This game takes place in the 25th century where humanity has managed to colonize other planets in the Solar system, however war and social strife have nearly destroyed the planet Earth. Players control a party of six custom made characters that work for the New Earth Organization (NEO) that is striving to restore Earth to its former glory. RAM, a massive corporation, plans on destroying Earth with a giant laser in order to tighten its grip on the inner planets. It’s up to you to find the laser and foil RAM’s evil plot. Buck Rogers features three races and four classes as well as a slew of skills that players can use to build their team. A sizeable arsenal of weapons that includes Needle Guns, Rocket Pistols, and Plasma Throwers can be employed against bad guys in turn based combat similar to that of Neverwinter Nights (1992). Not only does Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday feature ground combat, but also space battles that allow players to fight hostile ships in their own rocket. Finally, this game includes a number of missions to complete and planets to explore.
