About six years ago, I began creating guides that use maps. The idea was to provide users with visual references that would make it easier to navigate. Creating these guides was fun and I developed some new skills, but I never felt they were as good as they could have been. At the same time, none of my map walkthroughs seem very popular nor have I received the sort of feedback that written guides get, which has made it very difficult to tell if they are actually helpful for my audience. It also takes far longer to create maps than it does to make a simple written guide.
Taking all of these factors in account, I’ve decided to take a break from making map walkthroughs. I hope this does not disappoint anyone who uses this site, but I do not see a reason to continue making something when its usefulness is questionable at best. That said, I intend to continue making written walkthroughs and will hopefully be able to produce a lot more in the near future. I’ll also use what I’ve learned from editing maps to include more visual elements in future guides.
I’m always seeking to improve, so feel free to let me know what you think of any of my walkthroughs and whether or not you find my map walkthroughs useful.
