Super Castlevania 4 is a remake of the original Castlevania. Players control famed vampire hunter, Simon Belmont as he ventures into castle Dracula to slay an assortment of evil creatures including the lord of vampires himself, Dracula. Like in any platformer, players must clear obstacles by jumping and fighting off monsters. Speaking of fighting, Simon uses the mighty “Vampire Killer” whip to dispatch the servants of evil and can attack in eight directions as well as block some projectiles. A number of specialized weapons that cost hearts to use (which can be obtained by striking candles) are available. Crosses, holy water, and axes are a few of Simmon’s special weapons that are often useful for killing bosses or eliminating foes from long range. Super Castlevania IV features over nine stages, each with a boss that must be destroyed and a password system that allows players to resume their game.
