Description

Pitfall! is a sidescrolling platformer that was designed by David Crane and published by Activision for the Atari 2600 in 1982. Pitfall Harry has set out to explore the jungle and collect the treasures hidden within. In order to gather the loot and obtain a perfect score, players must guide Harry through 255 screens within the twenty minute time limit. Deadly obstacles like quicksand, rattlesnakes, and crocodile infested ponds stand between Harry and his goal. Players will have to carefully leap over these obstacles, latch onto swinging vines, or take the underground route to avoid danger. Colliding with logs or falling into holes will lower the player’s score, while obtaining gold bars, diamond rings, and bags of money will raise their score. The world of Pitfall! may be treacherous, but Harry has three lives in which he can complete his task.
