Description
Mega Man X7 is a platformer that was developed and released by Capcom for the PS2. Players control Zero, Axl, and eventually X in 11 stages. It is possible to switch between these characters while exploring a stage. There are Eight bosses, each with their own stage, that can be challenged in any order. Axl, Zero, and X will receive a new weapon or skill upon defeating a boss. This game also features special guns and melee weapons that can be used without consuming weapon energy. There are also a variety of upgrades in addition to X’s armor upgrades. This installment in the series is different from the rest in that it features both 2D and 3D gameplay.
The story is told through animated cutscenes with voice overs that appear between stages. Axl, a former member of a rogue group of Maverick Hunters called Red Alert, joins X and Zero when things start to change for the worse at Red Alert. Angered by Axl’s defection, Red (the leader of Red Alert) challenges the Maverick Hunters to do battle with him and his allies in exchange for Axl’s safety. Afterwards, an army of Mavericks starts causing chaos in the city, so it’s up to Axl and Zero to fight them off. As the story unfolds players will learn the secrets of Red Alert.
