Description
Comix Zone places players in control of a comic book artist named Sketch who is transported in into his own comics by the evil Mortus. Desiring a flesh and blood body, Mortus uses his powers to trap the unwitting artist in the comic book so he can steal Sketch’s life force and use his magical powers to conquer the world. Luckily, Sketch meets General Alissa Cyan, who leads the resistance against the alien invaders in the comic. She gives Sketch some supplies, then sends him off to save the world.
Players can punch and kick their way through a small army of comic book villains in this beat ‘em up. Sketch can also use knives, bombs, and paper airplanes made from the background of the book to attack enemies. His pet rat, Roadkill, can sniff out loot and enter tiny areas Sketch cannot fit into.
This game is notable for its comic book theme, which allows players to pass through panels and gives the game a unique aesthetic. Speech bubbles tell the story and narrate battles as players explore the game. There’s also some light platforming.
