Description
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is an ARPG that focuses on the adventures of Alucard, son of Dracula. Castlevania, which appears once every 100 years, has resurfaced earlier than expected. Richter Belmont vanishes after setting out to investigate the sudden return of Dracula’s castle. Alucard, also learns of Castlevania’s return and ventures into the castle in hopes of solving the riddle. Players control Alucard, who can equip a wide array of weapons, use magic spells, summon familiars, and transform into a number of beasts. Alucard explores the castle in a classic side scroller format and will have to solve a number of puzzles in order to solve the mystery behind Richter’s disappearance.
This title varies from earlier Caslevania games in that Alucard gains experience from beating monsters, which increases his level in turn. With each level Aluacrd becomes slightly more powerful. That said, the game still takes place in Dracula’s legendary castle and there is a strong focus on platforming as well as exploration. As players explore they will encounter breakable walls that hide treasure, bosses, and an assortment of smaller horror themed monsters. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night also features a secondary mode that allows players to control Richter Belmont, who has his own unique powers and story line.
