Description
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is a side scrolling action RPG that puts players in control of a mysterious youth named Soma Cruz. While visiting a shrine in Japan in the year 2035, Soma and his friend are magically transported to Dracula’s castle. Soma soon discovers that he has the ability to absorb the souls of the fiends that inhabit the castle and decides to explore the building in hopes of escaping.
Players are given a large sidescrolling area filled with treasures and monsters to explore. Slaying a monster will occasionally yield a soul that will grant Soma a new ability. There’s also a wide array of weapons and armor to choose from. While exploration in this game is fairly open ended, players will sometimes need a special soul found in the castle or taken from a boss to enter certain areas, which is why it is often compared to titles like Metroid.
