Master Takahashi’s Adventure Island IV or Takahashi Meijin no Bōken Jima IV in Japanese is a Metroid style platformer that puts players in the shoes of Master Takahashi (AKA Sir Higgins) as he sets out to defeat the Eggplant Wizard who has captured his friends. Gameplay is focused around a combination of exploration and combat. Players will find a number of useful items that include a torch that can light up dark areas, hammers that can break rocks, a surfboard, and a boomerang. Many of the items in Adventure Island IV are needed to destroy obstacles or solve puzzles that block progress. Sir Higgins can also ride a variety of animal helpers that will help him throughout his quest. A password system allows players to pick up where they left off.
