Description

In the not so distant future most labor will be performed by autonomous robots. Electrocorp, the leading robotics manufacturer, has designed a sentient machine called the Supervisor to manage their plant at Metropolis 4. Without warning, the Supervisor went rogue and took control of the facility and the surrounding city. Now, machines that once operated the production lines have begun running amok after being infected by the Supervisor.

To combat the Supervisor, Electrocorp has designed a cyborg with superhuman strength and speed. Electrocorp sends the cyborg to Metropolis 4 to take down the Supervisor and bring the plant back online. However, the Supervisor has an army of machines on its side. Can the cyborg defeat the Supervisor and its forces or will Metropolis 4 fall into the hands of the machines forever?

Rise of the Robots is a 2D fighting game that consists of a story mode and a two player versus mode. In story mode the player controls Cyborg as he challenges each of the Supervisor’s minions in one-on-one combat. Each match is set up in the traditional fighting game manner where the player must defeat the computer controlled opponent in two rounds. If the player wins two rounds, he or she can move into the next foe. Ties will result in a third round where the winner takes all. If the player loses two rounds in a row, he or she will have to start over again from the very beginning of the game.

Players are given sixty seconds to win a bout. If time runs out before one of the combatants runs out of energy the combatant with the most energy remaining will be declared the winner. Defeating all of the lesser robots will allow the player to challenge the Supervisor, the most powerful foe in the game.

Cyborg and his opponents fight using a variety of kicks and punches. The player’s position often determines the type of kick or punch the cyborg will execute. Crouching will result in low kicks and punches. Attacking while jumping delivers a flying kick or punch. Kicking or punching while standing results in a normal attack. Players can also use special moves like Cyborg’s shoulder slam, by inputting button combinations.

In versus mode Player 1 always controls Cyborg while Player 2 can choose from the enemy combatants featured in story mode. Each of the combatants has its own abilities as well as varying levels of durability and power. Player VS player matches follow the same rules as story mode fights.
