Description

In Need for Speed Carbon, the streets of Palmont City are controlled by a number of racing gangs. The player will have to win a series of races against each of the gangs to take control of the city. In order to win, players will have to contend with aggressive opponents and police who will attempt to arrest the player while racing. While other racers will merely ram the player, police will use counter measures like spike strips and roadblocks to stop the player.

A robust lineup of licensed vehicles that includes the the Mazda RX-8, Mustang GT, Dodge Charger R/T, and the Porsche Carrera GT can be unlocked over the course of the game. Players can also customize their vehicles in a variety of ways to give themselves an edge against their opponents.

Nitrous can be used during races for an extra boost of speed, plus players can call upon a wingman for assistance when needed. Players can also call in their crew for repairs if their car is damaged. Speedbreaker, an ability that slows time, allows players to make impossible turns without letting up on the gas, which makes it invaluable for avoiding police and making difficult turns.

Need for Speed Carbon features several game modes including Career Mode, Quick Race, and Online Multiplayer. In Career Mode, the player races against the street gangs of Palmont in order to conquer the city. Quick Race allows players to hop into a race without any story based interruptions. Players could also face off against one another in Online Multiplayer, but the service is no longer available.
