Description

Thunderbirds is a shmup based on the 1960s action/sci-fi show, which featured marionettes that piloted futuristic vehicles. In the video game, the Tracy family must defeat the forces of the evil villain known as “Hood”. This takes players through a total of eleven stages where they must shoot their way through the Hood’s troops. These stages consist of a volcano, the deep sea, and a forest to name a few of the locations in the game. Defeating certain enemies will yield power ups that can refill the player’s life, add orbitals that fire extra bullets, and upgrade the player’s main gun.

Players can control all five of the Thunderbird’s craft, which range from rocket ships to giant bulldozers. Each vehicle can take several hits before being destroyed. Thunderbirds uses a time based system where players are given sixty days to complete the game. Losing in a stage costs the player a day rather than a life. At the same time, completing a stage successfully also costs a day, so players will have to manage their time carefully if they wish to succeed.
