Description
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time is a four player beat ’em up that features Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael as well as several other characters from the cartoon. Shredder and Krang have stolen the Statue of Liberty. The Turtles set out to get the Statue of Liberty back from the Foot Clan, but are sent back in time by one of Shredder’s traps and must find their way back home. Players can control any or all of the Turtles as they slash, punch, and kick their way through the past. The Turtles all use their signature weapons from the cartoon and comic book. They also have their own combo attacks as well as super damaging special moves that cost life to use.
Each Turtle’s health meter will decrease if they are hit by a bad guy or a stage hazard, such as falling wrecking balls. A Turtle will lose a life once his health meter hits zero. Players get two lives per coin and have to purchase more lives. If they run out of lives, it’s Game Over. Players can refill their character’s health by picking up pizza found in stages. Some pizzas are marked with a bomb symbol and activate a special spin attack that lasts for a few seconds when picked up.
Every stage is filled with enemies, mostly Foot Clan Soldiers, who attack players on sight. A boss must be defeated at the end of a stage in order to move to the next. Stages often have hazards, such as electrified floors or spiked balls which players must avoid. Some stages autoscroll and players must use the Turtles’ surf boards or hover boards to avoid traps while fighting. There are nine stages in total, ranging from Manhattan to a 17th century pirate ship.
