Description

Super Mario World is an action platformer for the SNES and the fourth main installment of the Super Mario Bros. Series. Bowser has abducted the Princess and taken her to Dinosaur Land. Mario and Luigi must explore a whole new world and battle their way through Bowser’s minions once again.

As in any Mario game, the goal is to clear stages filled with hazards and enemies. Stages make up larger areas with food names, such as Chocolate Island and Vanilla Dome. Every area is the domain of a Koopaling who acts as a boss. Mario must defeat each Koopaling in his castle to reach Bowser and beat the game.

Players will find power ups and extra lives as they go on their adventure. Mario can throw fireballs using his tried and true Fire Flower or fly and bop enemies with a Cape that was new to the series at the time. Yoshi also appears as a mount that the brothers can ride. While mounted on Yoshi, players can eat many of the game’s smaller baddies and spit Koopa Troopa shells for a variety of effects. Secret levels can also be found through exploration and clever players will find a top-secret series of challenge stages if they look hard enough.
