Description
Years after the war with the Bydo Empire, an R-Type Fighter is dispatched to investigate the ruins of a space colony rumored to be home to an unknown hostile force. Before long, the R-Type’s pilot enters a dangerous realm infested with mankind’s greatest foe. In R-Type Final, players must complete a series of horizontal shmup levels as they research the Bydo’s return.
R-Type Final features over 100 unlockable ships that can be obtained through a variety of means. The game also has alternate paths players can take through its stages. Taking a specific path will unlock new ships, bonus stages, and even alter the game’s ending. Classic R-Type mechanics like the Bit System and dozens of weapon upgrades are included in R-Type Final. Ships from earlier titles also make an appearance along with many new ones. Players can even customize their R-Type fighter’s colors.
