Description
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is a single player stealth game and sequel to the PlayStation hit, Metal Gear Solid. This title is split into two distinct sections, where players control Snake as he infiltrates a tanker carrying dangerous cargo and another in which Raiden takes on his first mission at the Big Shell, a facility designed to clean up a massive oil spill.
Both sections of the game are heavily focused on evading detection by hostile NPCs and completing a number of goals. NPC soldiers will attack Snake/Raiden if they spot him and call for backup if they have a working radio. This usually leads to an assault team pursuing the player. Luckily, Snake and Raiden are adept at stealth tactics and can deceive enemies by crawling into vents, hiding in lockers, or hanging over railings to name a few of the tricks they have up their sleeves.
Players will find many different weapons and tools to assist them as they infiltrate Big Shell. These include thermal goggles, rations, and chaff grenades, as well as firearms like the Socom. MGS2 features several bosses in addition to basic enemies. Players will often need to use Raiden’s tools wisely in order to defeat a boss. A New Game + mode with added bonuses and several difficulty modes also await players.
