Description
Mega Man X3 is set a few years after the events of the second game. Once again, the fragile peace between humans and reploids is broken when Maverick reploids led by Dr. Doppler begin a deadly rampage. X and Zero must defend the Maverick Hunter HQ which is under attack from the Doppler Army.
MMX3 is similar to its predecessors in that players can choose to fight the first eight bosses in any order. All of the boss stages are filled with hidden power ups and X will be able to use the weapons of all of the Mavericks he destroys. As usual every Maverick is weak against another Maverick’s weapon.
X can upgrade himself by finding capsules hidden throughout the eight Maverick stages. These upgrades improve his defense, give him the ability to dash in mid-air, and more. Mega Man X3 also features special “Chips” that can further improve one of X’s upgrades. Ride Armors, mech suits that X can pilot, were expanded upon in this game. X will find four special Ride Armors hidden in stages, with each one having its own special traits.
Players can continue by using a password provided after running out of lives or after defeating a Maverick.
