Description

In Mega Man: The Power Battle, players can choose from Mega Man, Proto Man, and Bass, then fight Dr. Wily’s Robot Masters across three segments called stories. Rather than go through a stage as done in standard Mega Man games, players immediately battle the boss in a fighting game style match. Each story has six Robot Masters to fight. After beating the first six bosses, players must face off against a boss from the Wily stages, then battle Wily himself. The stories are based on games from the classic series and feature bosses from Mega 1-2, 3-6, and 7 respectively.

Defeating a Robot Master will earn players a special weapon which is extra effective when used on another boss. Special weapons have limited energy and the player will not be able to use a weapon until the the next match once it is out of power. Players can choose the order in which they fight the first six bosses of every story, but they have to do so by hitting a button to stop the cursor which spins automatically.

Mega Man, Proto Man, and Bass all use the same control scheme and have similar abilities. Every playable character can jump, fire regular shots, charge up shots for extra damage, use special weapons, and perform wall jumps. Each hero has a special movement ability, but these differ from one another. Mega Man can slide, Proto Man can dash, and Bass performs a jumping dash when the player pushes Down and the Jump Button at the same time. The heroes have a limited amount of health that is depleted every time a boss hits one of them. It’s game over once the player’s character runs out of health, but they can continue where they left off immediately as long as they have credits. Winning a battle also restores one bar of health for the player. Players can team up to fight the bosses together in two player mode.
