Description
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is a PlayStation Portable remake of Mega Man X for Super Nintendo. The story begins roughly one hundred years after the classic Mega Man series and features a new cast of characters.
X (also known as Mega Man X) was discovered by Dr. Cain in an old laboratory built by Dr. Light. Unlike Dr. Light’s previous robots, X can think, feel emotions, and make his own decisions. Due to the potential dangers of a machine with free will, Dr. Light placed X in a capsule designed to run diagnostics on him for a century to ensure that he would not malfunction. After X’s discovery, the first Reploids were created using Dr. Light’s design. Unfortunately, many of the Reploids have gone rogue and have begun to attack humanity. A group called the Maverick Hunters was formed to deal with the menace, which is where X’s story begins.
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X features 2.5D graphics and remixed music. Like every game in the series, players are free to challenge the first eight bosses in any order and earn new weapons upon beating a boss. Every boss is weak against another boss’s weapon. Players will also find Heart Tanks which increase X’s total health, upgrades to his armor, and Sub Tanks that can support store extra energy.
Maverick Hunter X also features bonus content which can be unlocked by beating the game. This includes a secret character with his own special weapons and moves. Players can also choose between normal difficulty, which is based on the original game, and a hard mode where enemies can inflict and withstand more damage. Finally, this game uses the PSP’s memory stick save functionality.
