Description
Lightening Force, also known as Thunder Force IV, is a shmup for the Sega Genesis. The plot is fairly simple: the player controls a starfighter tasked with destroying various targets important to the invading Lohun Empire.
This title uses rules and ideas that are fairly standard in shooters. The ship will be destroyed if hit by an enemy or projectile, a boss waits at the end of each stage, and there are plenty of power ups to collect from enemies. Such power ups include a blade projectile, spread gun, rail gun, and bombs. The ship can also be equipped with two satellites which provide support fire and a super powerful special weapon.
Players are allowed to pick the order in which they complete the first four stages. Lightening Force is a single player game and lacks save features.
