Description

Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! features creatures from the famed Godzilla movie series. Players control Godzilla and Mothra as they battle monsters from Planet X, which has invaded the Solar System. The duo must defeat other kaiju from the series as well as tanks, turrets, and smaller creatures in order to save the Earth. Each section of the game is set on a hex board where players move Godzilla and Mothra from one hex to the next. Upon ending a turn, the player will have to navigate a small stage filled with power ups and lesser foes. Moving to a hex adjacent to an enemy monster will initiate combat with that monster.

Godzilla and Mothra function differently from one another in combat. Each kaiju has a suite of regular and special attacks. Using a special will drain the monster’s power, which can be refilled by collecting capsules. Godzilla lumbers around on the ground using kicks and punches to clear away enemies. He also has a tail swipe attack and his famed radiation breath. Mothra flies through each stage and shoots bullets at enemies. Her special attack is poison powder which she spreads from her wings.

Each player controlled kaiju has his or her own health and power bars. As the player goes through stages their kaiju will gain levels, increasing their health/power in the process. Using special moves and getting hit by enemies will reduce a monster’s power and life respectively. Capsules that refill power and life can be found scattered throughout stages.
