Description
Castlevania is the first title in the classic NES trilogy. The game is centered around Simon Belmont, whose mission is to storm Dracula’s castle and slay the fiend. Players control Simon through eighteen relatively short stages as he makes his way past pitfalls, traps, and monsters. In the beginning, players will only have access to the whip, but will find upgrades for it as well as special weapons like the Axe, Dagger, Holy Water, Cross, and Stopwatch. It costs hearts to use sub-weapons, so you’ll have to collect them from candles and the occasional defeated enemy.
Simon will have to overcome five classic horror bosses, including Medusa and Frankenstein’s Monster before facing off against Dracula. Beating a boss will grant the player an orb that will fully restore Simon’s health. Players get three lives and infinite continues to start and can earn more lives by racking up points. There is no save system for Castlevania.
