Description
Captain Skyhawk puts players in the cockpit of the F-14VTS, a specialized fighter designed to combat aliens that have invaded the Earth. Players must destroy the alien bases that are sucking energy out of the planet before the invaders can fully power up their space station, which is capable of vaporizing the planet.
The game shifts between vertical scrolling stages where players see the F-14VTS from above and third person stages where the player sees the plane from behind as he or she dogfights other enemy fighters. In the vertical scrolling stages, players must focus on destroying enemies and avoiding dangerous terrain as they fly towards the alien base. The goal of the third person stages is to shoot down enemy fighters.
The F-14VTS comes equipped with a standard cannon that has infinite ammo as well as an assortment of missiles. The missiles are powerful and cover a wide area, but their supply is limited. Players can stock up on more missiles at the space station between stages.
