Description
Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is a side scrolling Run ‘n Gun platformer based on the second movie in the original Star Wars trilogy. Players control Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca throughout the adventure, though which characters are playable depends on the stage. Weapons like the flame and plasma blaster have returned from the first game. Each character has his own playstyle that makes him unique. For example, Luke can use a lightsaber and a blaster. Han Solo can use grenades as well as an upgraded blaster and Chewbacca has a special “spin attack” that is extremely powerful. This game is somewhat unique in the series, because Luke will learn new force abilities that allow him to heal and throw his lightsaber as he progresses through the game.
Empire Strikes Back also includes Mode 7 stages that place players in control of a snow speeder and other vehicles, much like in the first game. Cutscenes between stages provide a brief summary of the story. Players can also continue their game using a password. This game features three difficulty settings that include: Easy, Brave (Medium), and Jedi (Hard) that can be changed in the options screen.
