Description

Golden Axe II is an Arcade Beat ’em Up made by Sega. It was released on the Sega Mega Play arcade system in the PAL Region. Ax Battler, Tyris, and Gilius return to rescue the kingdom from a new threat, Dark Guld. Players must battle their way through a series of stages defended by Dark Guld’s followers before confronting the villain himself. Each character can use a weapon as well as magic. Spells vary in type and power from one character to the next, but they all require magic books to cast. Magic books can be collected from evil wizards found in each stage.

Players can also take mounts from enemies and ride them into battle. Mounts have greater attack power, but will flee after the player has been knocked off of them a few times.

Taking damage will eventually kill a character, but players get two lives and can occasionally restore their hero’s health by eating food dropped by wizards between some stages. Inserting more credits into the machine after running out of lives allows players to start where they died without backtracking.
