Description
After nearly half a century of war, the Earth and planet Raia have come to a peace agreement. Disaster strikes when a Raian cyborg named Azrael betrays his leaders and uses an army of cyborgs to take control of Raia’s capitol city. Red Shield, an elite squad of human and Raian mech pilots, is sent in to defeat Azreal and restore the fragile peace in Armored Warriors.
Players can pick from four soldiers: Rash, Justice, Gray, and Siren. All four soldiers have their own unique mech with its own strengths and weaknesses. They will have to use their mechs to punch, kick, and shoot their way through Azrael’s forces. Armored Warriors gives players the unique ability to pick up parts from damaged enemies and equip them on their own mech. Legs, arms, and sub-weapons can all be swapped out for new appendages with their own special moves and abilities. These include missile launchers, laser swords, shock claws, tank treads, and even rocket boosters that allow the player to fly for short periods.
Players will need all the help they can get, because the cyborg army has access to powerful mechs and weapons of their own. Each stage is defended by a boss who must be defeated in order to progress.
The player has a limited supply of health and ammo. Taking hits will reduce the player’s life and using ranged weapons consumes ammunition. Players can refill their health by picking up items like wrenches and oil cans, which are occasionally dropped by enemies or found in crates. Ammo can be acquired by picking up new weapons or by finding ammo packs hidden in crates. Players get two tries per credit and will lose a life when their health runs out. More lives can be purchased with coins.
Armored Warriors supports up to three players in cooperative gameplay. Co-Op also features specialized mechs that up to three players can ride simultaneously. Multi-rider mechs are unlocked by picking up radios dropped by certain enemies in a multi-player game. Once a radio has been acquired, players can choose from three different multi-rider mechs to use against the stage boss. These mechs have their own health pool and are capable of unleashing devastating attacks.
