Description

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is a platformer with puzzle solving elements that was released for the PS1 in 1997. Players assume the role of Abe, a Mudokon slave working at Rupture Farms. Abe learns that the owners of Rupture Farms are planning to process the Mudokons into meat and decides to flee for his life. After an accident, Abe has a vision where he is told he will become the Mudokon savior if he can pass a set of trials, so Abe sets out to complete his mission once he escapes Rupture Farms.

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee requires players to navigate various obstacles in a cinematic side scrolling format. Abe has to leap over mines, sneak past sleeping guards, and pull levers to as he attempts to escape. His task also requires him to guide fellow Mudokons to Bird Portals, which lead to safety. Abe’s Oddysee also features a mechanic known as “Gamespeak” that allows Abe to communicate with other creatures. This often boils down to Abe ordering other Mukodons to follow him to portals, but players will encounter a few puzzles that require more creative use of Gamespeak.
