Description
In the year 2777 mankind is united under a single nation known as Xexyz. All was well until the evil Goruza fortress with its army of robotic beasts attacked the peaceful nation. Apollo sets out to free his people from the Goruza in Xexyz, a combination shmup and platformer for the NES.
Xexyz switches between side scrolling platforming stages where players can explore various areas while battling enemies and horizontal shooter stages where players control Apollo as he blasts his way through the armies of Goruza. Players will meet a variety of friendly creatures in the game that will give them useful advice or sell them weapons in exchange for E-Balls dropped by enemies. Apollo can also win E-Balls by playing mini games. A number of different weapons are available to Apollo; these include bombs that can be used in flying stages, a special bouncing bullet, and a laser that can be bought in shops.
Xexyz is rather open-ended and allows players to travel to various locations once they find their entrances. Magical items like Wing Boots that make Apollo jump higher are also up for grabs and there are a variety of vehicles that players can control in the shooter stages. Xexyz uses a password system which allows players to continue their game.
