Star Wars: Episode I Battle for Naboo (N64)

Developer/Publisher: Factor Five and Lucas Arts

Release Date: December 18, 2000

System: Nintendo 64

Genre: Shooter

Players: 1

Star Wars: Episode I Battle for Naboo is based on events in the Star Wars Episode I film. Many of the missions take place in scenes from the film that include Theed and the swamps of Naboo. Players control a variety of vehicles that are generally tied to the current mission. Familiar ships like the Star Fighter and Naboo Bomber are available in space missions, while vehicles like the Flash can be used during ground missions.

Missions often require the player to complete certain objectives such as destroying important enemy targets and protecting friendly vehicles. Players will have to watch their vehicle’s condition carefully during missions, because collisions and enemy fire can damage the player’s vehicle. Vehicles will eventually explode and the player will lose a life if they take enough damage.

Every vehicle has its own special weapons that include a main blaster and secondary weapons that range from heavy blasters to proton torpedoes. Primary weapons have unlimited ammo, but secondary weapons have limited uses to counterbalance the heavy damage they inflict.

Players can unlock new stages/vehicles by completing missions and getting medals. Some vehicles and stages require careful exploration or the best possible medal to unlock. Players can continue game sessions using the built in save feature.
