Description
Shining Force Neo is an ARPG based in the Shining Force universe. Max, a young Force in training, returns home just as a mysterious villain attacks the magical crystal located in Max’s hometown. This event will send Max off on a journey where he learns the secret behind the crystals and the mysterious antagonist who is bent on destroying them.
Max can use several types of weapons that include bows, swords, and magic wands. These weapons determine how he functions in battle. Magic wands give Max the ability to cast spells, bows fire arrows rapidly, and swords can hit enemies up close. Players will find two-handed variants of melee weapons that include halberds, clubs, and axes.
Players can also upgrade Max’s Force Frame using crystals dropped by enemies. The Force Frame is customizable, so players can focus on attributes that increase Max’s effectiveness with magic, bows, or melee weapons. Some Force Frame upgrades will also increase Max’s HP and Defense.
Shining Force Neo is semi-openworld, so players can explore a variety of areas, which are often infested with monsters that come out of gates. Gates will spawn monsters consciously until destroyed. Destroying a gate will make it drop equipment as well as crystals used to upgrade the Force Frame.
Several AI controlled allies will join Max on his quest. While these allies cannot use equipment or be controlled directly by the player, they have their own unique abilities. Some of Max’s friends use melee weapons while others heal the party or attack from afar. Shining Force Neo is roughly 60 hours long and features a save function.
