Description

Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals is a turn based RPG for Super Nintendo that tells the story of Maxim and his battle against evil gods known as the Sinistrals. A number of characters join Maxim in his quest as he explores the world and a maximum of four heroes can be in the player’s party at one time. Capsule monsters, a type of creature that cannot be controlled directly by the player, can also be collected and added to the party as fifth member. It is even possible to feed capsule monsters weapons and armor in order to make them evolve, which grants them better stats and new abilities. Battles on the world map occur randomly, while those in dungeons are initiated by colliding with an enemy sprite. Dungeons are filled with puzzles that have to be solved in order to move on or obtain treasure. Lufia II also uses a special ability mechanic known as IP Attacks that allow the player to activate powers hidden within weapons and armor to support allies or destroy enemies. Finally, this game features several side quests, most notably the Ancient Cave, which is an optional rogue-like dungeon that is 99 floors deep.
