Description
Join Christopher Belmont as he battles the evil Dracula and his servants in hopes of saving his son. Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge is the second title made for the Game Boy in the series. Like all Castlevania titles, players must explore stages filled with traps and horror themed enemies. This installment deviates from the norm a bit, because it allows the player to complete the first four levels in any order. Beating the four stages, Plant Castle, Crystal Castle, Rock Castle, and Cloud Castle will unlock Dracula’s Castle. Clearing each of these stages will be no easy task as Christopher will have to slay deadly monsters and negotiate traps like spiked balls that threaten to crush him. All of the stages are defended by a powerful boss at the end.
Players will start with a few lives and a whip. Christopher can upgrade his whip to a chain whip and eventually a whip that shoots fireballs by collecting orbs hidden in candles. Players will also find the axe and holy water sub-weapons by destroying candles. These weapons are powered by hearts that are obtained using the same method. Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge uses a password system as a save feature. Passwords that grant extra lives or unlock a sound test are also available.
