Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition follows the famed demon hunter, Dante, as he saves the world from the forces of Hell for the first time. The going will not be easy for Dante, because the evil Arkham has teamed up with Vergil, Dante’s brother, to summon a huge tower called Temen-Ni-Gru. Dante will have to fight his way through an army of demons and solve the secrets of Temen-Ni-Gru if he hopes to prevent Arkham from unleashing the ultimate evil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast paced combat figures heavily into Devil May Cry 3. Dante will have to defeat demons using his sword and guns in order to open sealed passages or to simply survive. Players can perform a variety of basic moves with his weapons and unlock more with Red Orbs dropped by defeated enemies. Some bosses award Dante with a new weapon, like the Cerberus flail, when defeated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dante also gains the ability to use his Devil Trigger for the first time in this prequel. When in devil form, Dante heals over time, moves faster, and gains access to new abilities. However, he can only maintain this form for a brief time and must build up power by fighting to use it again once he returns to his human form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploration also plays a role in Devil May Cry 3. Players will have to investigate the tower thoroughly to solve puzzles and find important key items. Pieces of Blue Orbs, which increase Dante’s maximum health can be found by searching various rooms. Players can also find large amounts of Red Orbs to spend on upgrades and items by exploring. Lastly, players can use special moves against Combat Arbiters and complete Secret Missions hidden throughout the game to earn more Blue Orb shards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Special Edition, this version features content and settings which were not available in the launch release of Devil May Cry 3. The most notable addition is the ability to play as Vergil. As Vergil, players can use his katana, Yamato, as well as other weapons that have appeared in the series. Vergil can also attack foes at range with his summoned swords and has his own style of fighting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Difficulty levels have also been adjusted, plus Gold and Yellow Modes have been added. In Gold Mode, players can continue from checkpoints after dying. In Yellow Mode, players can only continue from a checkpoint if they have a Yellow Orb, however it is still possible to reload a save or retry the mission from the start if the player dies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
