Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Edition is a PlayStation Portable remake of Square\u2019s classic turn based RPG, which was originally released for the NES. In Final Fantasy, the balance between the elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water has been disrupted by a mysterious force, which has lead to calamity. Just as it seems all hope is lost, four mysterious warriors appear, each bearing a crystal. The warriors must investigate the cause of the disturbance and restore the faded power of the crystals to their former glory or the world will fall into chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players start Final Fantasy by selecting four characters from six classes which include the Fighter, Thief, Black Belt (Monk in more recent versions of the game), White Mage, Black Mage, or Red Mage. Every class has a unique specialty in which it excels. Fighters are masters of close quarters combat and can withstand a lot of damage. Black Belts are skilled at fighting without weapons and armor. Thieves are quick and agile. All of the mage classes are trained in some form of magic with the White Mage being adept at healing, the Black Mage is a master of offensive magic, and the Red Mage can use both types of magic, though not as well as the other two mage classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players will have to fight monsters to earn experience points and level up in order to become stronger as well as earn money to buy equipment. The world of Final Fantasy is packed with towns and dungeons to explore. In towns, players can buy weapons, armor, magic, and healing items as well as rest at the inn to restore magic points and hit points. Many towns have a clinic where players can revive fallen allies. Dungeons are home to dangerous monsters as well as fabulous treasures. Many dungeons are vital to the story line and must be completed to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a remake, Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Edition varies from the original game in a number of ways. The level cap for characters has been raised from 50 to 99. The magic and inventory systems have been overhauled to make them more modern. Many of the bugs which plagued the original game have been fixed. There is also a series of bonus dungeons players can challenge as they progress through the adventure. Finally, the graphics and sound have been updated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
