Trek to Yomi <\/em>is a side-scrolling action game set in ancient Japan. Players control a young samurai in training named Hiroki, who must protect his village from an ancient evil. In later chapters players control an older Hiroki that must slash his way through an army of bandits, rival samurai, and demonic entities to fulfill his oath. This game is heavily inspired by Kurosawa films and features black and white graphics as well as an in-game world based on the Japanese Edo period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trek to Yomi<\/em> is highly focused on sword combat with some exploration added in for variety. Players will have to fight a variety of enemies in close combat and it is necessary to master Hiroki\u2019s moves in order to emerge victorious. Players can block, backstep, and counter foes with Hiroki\u2019s own attacks, but our hero\u2019s stamina is limited. Consequently, players have to manage their attacks carefully and rest briefly between fights. Hiroki also has limited health and will succumb to his wound if the enemy scores too many hits. Players can also take out foes from afar using Hiroki\u2019s bow, though ammo is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each chapter of the game has its own setting and objectives. Trek to Yomi\u2019s <\/em>story is told through cutscenes as players progress through each chapter. There are also many collectables and upgrades hidden in each area. Players will find artifacts, health upgrades, and stamina boosts that will make Hiroki more powerful. Many of these items are hidden and require careful exploration to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
